Rare photo of inside of Coral Cave

Trip passengers in the main chamber of Coral Cave (ARTA guide Sue Bassett in back) – just before the “let’s turn the lights out” moment, when everyone sits in utter dark and quiet! Coral Cave had terrific formations, but required some belly crawling to get back to the big chamber where you could stand with as many as 20 others. The cave, which was between Chinese and Duck Bar camps, was flooded by New Melones Dam.
