Status: Live River
By: William R. Elliott
Date: January 9, 1981
Description:

Article in Caving International Magazine describing the impacts of flooding of the Stanislaus River on the caves of the canyon. It has extensive information on the Banksula Melones or harvestman spider, which was endemic to the river’s caves. Elliott, the author, was an expert on the spider and related species and had conducted an Army Corps-sponsored experiment in 1978 to see if the spider could be transplanted (it could not, the experiment failed).
