Bruce Raley (August 6, 1943 to May 13, 2020)
Bruce Raley was as an avid whitewater rafter, a conservationist, and a dedicated early friend and photographer of the Stanislaus River. With his passing, we lost a dear brother who lived life with a fullness of both passion and compassion. All the while that he was intimately involved in the numerous campaigns, volunteering his talents for the Stanislaus’ preservation, the river befriended him and changed his life. Bruce will be remembered for his willingness to push ever-forward, for his generous intentions of always doing “something” for someone, and for that unabashed trademark dimpled grin—joyful, earnest, mischievous. Bruce long held a dream of creating a film about the Stanislaus. Now in memory and tribute, his wife, Michele, and son, Sean, have donated his remarkable collection to this Archive for all to enjoy. Forever in our hearts, Bruce. See all his images and videos here .
