Linda Cloud chained and protesting illegal flooding in March 1982

FOR staffer Linda Cloud, chained to a tree at Parrott’s Ferry to protest filling of the upper Stanislaus River canyon – she was later arrested and taken away.  This was after a U.S. District Court in February 1982 issued a ruling halting filling while other legal procedures were taking place. Filling had advanced as far as Duck Bar, just four miles from complete inundation.  Mary Haughy (now Berglund) to her right.
