Henry Falany on the Stanislaus River in 1966 – rowing a 22′ raft!

Henry Falany was one of the early outfitters on the Stanislaus River, with his company White Water River Expeditions (WWRE). This photo, taken from a 2016 interview with Henry in the Boatman’s Quarterly Review, shows Henry at the oars of one of his 22′ pontoon rafts, with some basket boats in the background, in 1966.  Those big rafts were pretty large for the Stan, but WWRE and another company made them work from time to time, often using wooden frames.
