June 1963 rafting trip on the Stanislaus River – Martin Litton rowing one of the very first trips on the river

This is from a set of photos taken on a June 1963 rafting trip by Ty Childress.  This is likely a Wilderness Waterways (Bryce Whitmore) trip. Martin Litton (later of Grand Canyon Dories fame) is rowing the basket boat, while Ty Childress’ father, Clyde, is in the back with a Hasselblad camera covered in a plastic bag.
