Another reason for the name “Mother Rapid” – low water run on the Stanislaus

Location: Mother Rapid
Status: Live River
By: Jerry Cadagan
Date: August 11, 1979
Description:

Mother Rapid was very challenging whenever the water on the Stanislaus River got low (below 1,000 cfs) – and it was challenging when the river was higher, too! In this sequence, it’s easy to see why – and ECHO trip has to bump through the now exposed rocks of Mother Rapid.  Kevin Wolf guiding in the last photo.
