Classic dinner scene at a camp along the Stanislaus River

Description:
In the 1960s and through the mid 1970s, camping fires were usually made from gathered wood (lots of potblack on the pans!). Gather some rocks, put down a metal grate and fire up the wood, dinner shortly thereafter! Propane gas stoves came in by the mid-1970s, as the impact of wood fires just didn’t fit with protecting the canyon and the increasingly large numbers of people going down. (Valerie Olson standing, Sarah Roming (last name?) The November ’74 ‘Thanksgiving’ river tirp.
