Cooking at camp – Stu "Drifter" Smith, ARTA guide

Drifter was a legendary ARTA Grand Canyon motor boat guide who came up to California to learn rowing (he went back to the Canyon and rowed for many years – read this great interview with him in the 2013 Boatman’s Quarterly Review). He brought his deadpan humor and great skills to the Stanislaus, including demonstrated ability to clean the big aluminum griddles used in camp. He passed away in 2017.
