Status: Live River
By: Unknown
Date: 1972
Description:

David Kay, shown here at a conference in the early 1970s, was a brilliant and passionate advocate for the Stanislaus River. He was a co-founder of Friends of the River and led early efforts to petition the federal government to step away from the New Melones Dam project. He was the chief publicist for ARTA.  His Thoreau/Muir poetic rootedness, lead ARTA to become the fasted growing river company, and the Stanislaus campaign to touch hearts and minds around the country.
