Popping an oar back on a 15-man military raft
Description:
15-man rafts were U-shaped military surplus tubes, with frames and wood decks holding it all together. Heavy and prone to long, cork-screwing flips, they were a chore to row. In this scene an ARTA guide (Guy Best?) is getting an oar back on the pin after popping it off. No life-jacket, of course, par for the course in the early 1970s. (Some of the 15 man ‘assault rafts’ still had grommets in the front of the raft where the machine guns were attached for night landings in WWII.) This is likely at the bottom of Mother Rapid.
