Rock dike near Devil's Staircase rapid

Status: Live River
By: Valerie and Donley Olson
Date: 1974
Description:

There were several of these rock dikes (formed out of diorite) running across the Stanislaus River at and near Devil’s Staircase rapid – they were easy to miss if for no other reason than the fun of running that rapid with the big drop. This was taken during the Thanksgiving 1974 trip, which accounts for little vegetation on the shore bank.
