Description:
Row for the River was a 200 mile river journey from Camp Nine to San Francisco’s Aquatic Park, from September 14-21, 1974, to demonstrate support for Proposition 17, on the ballot in November of that year. Two dozen or hardy kayakers ran the entire river, out through the Delta and across the Bay to Tiburon over a week’s effort. On the final day more than a 100 rafters, kayakers and others made the journey across the Golden Gate to Aquatic Park where a celebration ensued. News coverage of the event was substantial.
