The great fig tree at Duck Bar
Description:
The fig tree was huge – 75-100′ across, with a central growth that arched and branched down to root in many places. Inside, the area close to the trunk was 15-10′ tall, like a big tent. Lots of figs in late summer and lots of wonder just being inside this gold rush relic. By 1980 (this photo), the main trunk had fallen some, lessening the overall effect.
